State by State Genetics Laws

The effort to pass GINA began as a series of campaigns to pass state legislation. Many states passed genetic privacy and nondiscrimination laws before GINA.  It was this pressure for a strong federal standard that helped shepherd GINA into law.

Indeed it was by going back to the state level, building on the strong foundation of GINA and working to ensure that genetic information is protected against misuse by expanding genetic privacy and nondiscrimination protections that the CalGina law came to pass.
